Consumer Credit Counseling

Question: We are among the largest consumer credit counseling agencies in the country. As a non-profit agency focused on the needs of our clients, we constantly strive to improve our services and help our clients deal with burdensome credit card and other debt.

As such, we are interested in hearing from anyone who has dealt with a consumer credit counseling or debt consolidation organization. Were your needs met? How quickly were you debt-related problems (collectors, late fees, etc.) dealt with? Was the person/organization that you dealt with helpful and non-judgemental? Did you have confidence in the agency you dealt with? What did you like about dealing with this agency? What needs did you have which were not fulfilled by your consumer credit counseling service?

Answer: Nah. It’s a troll. Just some baby who’s putting together a mailing list or doing “research” to tailor a pitch and is too young to understand obfuscation. Got the idea from some “make-big-money-at-home-with-your-computer” deal, I ’spect. I don’t know if this particular message is “for real” (or how you would tell) but I just spoke to Consumer Credit Counseling in Berkeley, CA for an article I’m writing. I am impressed with them. The director of education gave me a great interview about credit card mis-use. The organization is devoted to educating consumers as well as helping out those in trouble with their finances. You can take free or low cost classes at the Berkeley CCC on budgeting, investing, and other money issues. OT snide remark – will Suze Orman become the financial world’s Martha Stewart? She’s intense, she’s everywhere, she’s got the same hairdo… Is there a Suze Orman parody in our future? Shall we start flame wars online pro and con? Will hating/loving Suze split family and friends?
