Credit Reports: Remove old info?

Question: In most cases only the original creditor can make the correction. > You’d have to go through them. > You have the right to add a comment (which I doubt any creditor > reads).

Answer: Rick is right, I doubt many card issuers do read comments. I think they may help if you’re applying for a home loan, though, and you’re working with a local banker. I once had a conversation with a lender re: a small courts judgment that was filed against a business I owned, about $300 for equipment repairs that should have been covered by warranty… the company who made the repairs billed me, and when I refused to pay, they managed to win taking me to small claims court. I paid the bill, but the jedgment stayed on my report for years. Being able to enter a short 100-word explanation of the situation never seemed satisfy the lender. Eventually, the entry was removed after a series of calls and letters. We put together free tips on improving credit scores at our weblog: http://improve-credit-score.blogspot.com
