Need to build credit. Need car repaired. Mistake?

Question: I pretty much agree Jeff. It just makes sense to me. But the whole > issue of paying for an expensive car repair right off the bat with one > has me a little nervous. Answer: Well if you don’t mind me asking, what needs to be repaired on the car, and what kind of money are we talking about?

Lets say your transmission went out, we know that can cost several thousand dollars, but sometimes they can put a used unit in for less then a thousand, etc.

As for personal information with the credit cards. Expect that every credit card will ask for every piece of information they can get on you. If you think that application asked a lot of information, wait until you see an auto or home loan application. Remember they are loaning you money and they need to know how they can get their money back, if you don’t pay, and they track your credit file via your social security number, BTW. Nothing out of the ordinary there.

Be realistic about what kind of card you can get. If this is your first card and you have no credit under your belt, you’ll be lucky to get ANY card, let alone a platinum with a 5k limit. You will be paying high interest for awhile, so just get used to it for now. 25% is not unusual for someone starting out.
