Answer: I worked in a bank for several years. I only know of only one bank employee that did her loan there. She walked into the employee lounge one day to overhear 5 or 6 people in the mortgage department discussing her student loans. After that none of the employees would take a loan at our bank. Everyone financed through a competitor. Also, the person may have worked in a bank that did not have competitive interest rates. Employees should shop around just like any other consumer would.
